titans on the clock
several friends here are Titans fans. This pick is amazing to watch. The Manziel argument is now a solid 17 on a scale of 1-10

the browns are all over the place here. Help me help you.... make this make sense
Simple, really. Either mack or a trade down??!?!?! So many needs, but do multiple holes outweigh the chance at someone that could really be an IMPACT player?
wow..... there's no doubt why the NFL runs the world. This bar has no playoffs from the NBA or NHL on..... and just the announcement of a trade is epic.
Ok.... Clowney is off the board. To which I ask.... will adding sacks result in a Super Bowl? Maybe, maybe not.... in a Seattle world where Defense wins championships I understand the pick. But does Clowney specifically result in 6 more wins?
Now, St Louis holds all the leverage. ALL. If you believe Watkins, Robinson, Etc can take you to the next level you HAVE to make a move.
Well, it's the middle of the first day of the draft and that means suddenly news is popping out from everywhere. Let's at least remember, though, to analyze the benefits of certain rumors. When teams like the Giants are suddenly reported as "very interested" in Manziel if he slips into their laps, I'm left to wonder what point that rumor has. Who does it benefit? Does it benefit the Giants to say such a thing if they are truly interested? Not in any way that I can see. It would only benefit the Giants if they are, in fact, trying to seduce teams into moving up to get a falling player. That's the reality here we must not forget when we watch the draft. Teams sitting at the top of the 2nd round might seriously be looking at opportunities to move up and get a "hype" player like Johnny Football. If you believe that greatness is still out there and it's not a perceived value because the player is slipping into the middle of the round, you can become the hero of your fan base and the darling of post draft media coverage by making the move UP to get someone. Let's face it.... fans are rarely pumped for the trade down scenario, but smart teams do it all the time. So, remember when you are hearing all these last second rumors that every piece of news reported has a result. Analyzing that benefit can sometimes help decipher fact from fiction in these crazy times.
The draft finally takes shape tomorrow.... and I'm humbled to have launched two shows today, both with incredible guests. The recurring theme through both shows seems to be that this is the time of year filled with questions. How are rosters shaping up.... what direction are teams going in.... the interesting thing about those very questions, however, is that we are answering our own questions looking through the eternally half full glass that is unquestionably wired into us as fans. For so many superfans - and yes, let's be honest.... if you are studying the draft to the degree most of us are, you qualify as a superfan.... fandom is almost like an abusive relationship. We are hoping for a new result, believing our team has changed or that somehow this season will be different. It's that very belief that the NFL preys upon and fans fall into the annual trap of thinking this will be the year their favorite team becomes triumphant. Tomorrow, as I said in my show today, is like Christmas in May. Each of our favorite teams will get all sorts of new toys to play with. What will be interesting, though, is to see how many of those toys still hold our interest a year later. Here's to the first annual eve of the draft writing on this site. I hope that each year as the show continues to grow, our focus can be spent looking back at previous drafts where perspective can actually exist. In the meantime, I will do what so many of you out there are going to do tomorrow. I'll gather with a small group of friends and each of us will walk away from the draft weekend convinced that our teams has made the dramatic moves necessary to leap forward to the next level of competitiveness.
Welcome to the launch of the all new homepage. I'm trying to help streamline the TJFS process for all of you, by giving you the option to listen to the show here, on ITunes or on Soundcloud, Podcasting as a medium seems ever evolving, so I'm trying to listen. Also, look for more blogging and content from life on the road at this site.
Thanks, as always, for following me on this crazy ride.
